I can’t say how intrigued I was to read Zander’s adult story. Having learned all that we learn so early in the series and then fast forward 15 years and holy smokes! Zander is a grown man!

I love his relationship with Colton and Rylee. From the very beginning all the way through this book. They epitomize what a family is and in the same breath what it isn’t.

It was hard to read Zander struggling with old demons that shouldn’t have ever been brought back out but then again, if they weren’t, he never would’ve known how his mother really felt and what she was going through in the end. He needed that. He needed to hear from her and I’m so glad that he did.

Love love love Colton. It was through his love of Zander that he was able to take a step back and make Zander grow up or get out. I admire that about him.

Talk about fate intervening. Zander and Getty roommates?! And what a love story. I loved how neither one of them liked the other for a good bit of the story. I like the harder won stories.

And poor Getty and all of her horrible horrible demons. No one should EVER have to go through anything even close to that. I’ll be able to sleep a little better tonight knowing her demons are gone. Never to be heard from again.

I must confess, when I heard that Zander's story was being written, I wasn't too overjoyed. It meant for me that that little 8 year old boy from the Driven series was all grown up now. However, I couldn't pass this story up because it was Zander's story and I wanted to know more, even if he is now all grown up. Turns out, it's just not his story, but Getty's as well.

Zander has a falling out with his dad, only he doesn't tell his dad why he's acting out. He acts out against everyone around him. When the fall out occurs, he seeks somewhere to get his act together.

Getty was not necessarily on the run, but she was running from a controlling father and ex-husband. She was running towards freedom and found it in a small town. Enter Zander as a roommate and chemistry and tempers flare. Tempers first, chemistry, while there simmers for a bit but is worth it.

Zander tries to keep Getty at arm's length, but they both help each other through the things they're trying to work through.

When Getty figures something out, it has her running for Zander, but I won't tell you if it's a good ending or a bad.

You have to read this book.

Do you need to read the Driven series first? Not particularly, but I would recommend it because Colton Donovan is just as hot and sexy as Zander Donovan.

If you are a fan of the Driven series then you know exactly who Zander Donavan is. I was so excited that we were getting his book that when I got my arc I think I legitimately cried in happiness. Down Shift does not disappoint and for me lived up to all the hype surrounding it. I thought I loved Colton the most out of every male in this series but I think Zander might have taken first place away from his dad. The emotions that Zander alone brought out of me, I had to sit my kindle down more than once because of how emotionally upset I would get. A piece of my heart belongs to Zander Donavan and I will allow him to have it for the rest of my life. Oh and if you think his dad is hot and dirty, wait until you read about Zander.

Getty, she holds a piece of heart as well. I loved her character, I loved how she was able to heal and that she healed Zander in a way too. I felt for Getty so much, I cried for her as well. Even though the tension between these two at first wasn’t the good kind, I loved watching their relationship form, those bonds strengthen and fully become something beautiful. I think she was the perfect balance and match for Zander, I couldn’t have dreamed up a better match if I tried.

Down Shift does not disappoint and while you can read this as a standalone, I think so you know the entire background I would read the previous books first, it will give you more of an in-depth appreciation for Zander and his past. This is a must read according to this book whore!
Zander, all grown up, but still struggling with coming to terms about his biological mothers death. Furious with his adoptive parents Colton and Rylee Donavan. Zander, leaves town not telling anyone where he is going to try and figure his life out. Without racing, friends and family he ends up on an island to seek solitude.
Getty, young woman running from her life of control and being controlled by her father and husband. Hidden in this small island town working to pay her way and try to figure out her next step before being found.
Zander and Getty, ends up sharing the same house. While running from everything and everyone in their past, they discover they can't run from the present nor the future... will Getty and Zander, take a chance and JUMP?
I have read all Bromberg's, books and was extremely excited about the release of this book, but I was disappointed in the dialogue...this book fell flat and dragged for me and I found myself skimming through the chapters and it still took me a week to get through it. 😞 I still adore the author and will continue to buy her books

I'm going to say what some book readers may find ridiculous....this was way to long! I think it was all the lengthy inner dialogue that was making it a struggle to keep reading. I hate to say it but, I was bored often.
I didn't really feel the connection with Zander and Getty either. Sure they had physical chemistry, and similar background stories, but the emotional connection just wasn't there. This could have been the next epic Rylee and Colton type story but it just fell flat for me.
