Sarazen Claim A Sarazen Saga Novel Book 1 eBook Isabel Wroth

Kind of alien romance mixed with shifter/fated mates, this turned out to be a surprising and enjoyable read. I liked that the h is a human girl, a tall and curvy redhead who's one of the few left of Earth, out in unknown space, searching for a new home. I liked how she and the H meet, and given that it's sort of fated mates, the attraction and the 'I claim you' is virtually instant. The H proved to be very smitten with h, possessive and territorial of her. Human in feature, he's tall, blond, has fangs and retractable claws, a killer Mohawk, and tattoos. Think pissed off lion meets snarly Viking, a "hot, scary, snarling alien man cat."

There's dual POV, and I enjoyed having H's thoughts and feelings. The first part of the book seemed to move a little slow for me. I thought the second half picked up some speed, was more fun to read, as they all make it to H's planet. There's royal intrigue and political treachery going on, and it added some excitement to the story. Also, if you like to see the human h hold her on and turn into a total badazz chick, you'll like this part of the story. It was interesting how the h changed and became so much more. It was like, I'll show you who's boss, then bam, smackdown. She was submissive but also able to hold her own.

The story ends with some unfinished business, but I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger. Just some overall storyline to continue in the next book about a different couple. My main complaint about this story is the editing. Along with the usual editing mistakes, there was a lack of clarity on who was speaking at a given time. Too many pronouns and not a clear antecedent, and not a clear transition in the dialogue. I'd have to re-read a sentence to see who was doing the speaking and who was doing the action. Mostly, though, it's enjoyable and has a nice feeling of romance and passion to the h/H.

Sarazen Claim A Sarazen Saga Novel Book 1 eBook Isabel Wroth Reviews

Loved this book. A great start to a series. Loved the world building. The last of humanity looking for a new home, attacked by a superior race and rescued by another. 33 survivors. The Sarazen are a warrior species of cat like shifters who value honor and family. Clary is a science officer who managed to rescue 8 of her crew. They are picked up by Tarek, the Commander of the Sarazen Fleet. Tarek's beast chooses Clary as his mate. The Sarazen's have true mates chosen by their beast and form strong bonds. Clary becomes the leader of the human survivors. A few other human females find mates as well. The time on the ship is spent learning about each other. Their are misunderstanding, miscommunication, and cultural difference to overcome. When they reach the Sarazen home world, treachery a Long time in the making is brought to light, and a faction that is threatened by the humans and how they bond to their mates. I liked that the human males also found mates with the Sarazen females. Loved the characters and that while the story ended with questions still needing answers, the ending was satisfying. Looking forward to the next book!
Humans are trying to find a new planet, and the Sarazens rescue a solitary ship from attack. The first of the series introduces a good cast of characters that leave future storylines open and an overall plot it sounds like for the whole series to follow. I liked the main h and H, even if the Hero didn’t really separate himself from a lot of similar ‘alien commanders’.
The heroine thru me off a little more. She started out an unwilling and unlikely leader and morphed into a dominant and badass protector of the remaining humans, who the others naturally look to. The change in her personality seemed forced by the author, like the author needed her to fill a set role and so transformed her to be so. You can’t just chalk it up to the ‘thing not to be mentioned because it’s a spoiler’ that happens to her. At the end of the book, there’s a short reflection on it by the character, but the whole thing just didn’t come off as genuine to me. So 3.5 stars. Also, the pride he feels for his new mate is mentioned waaaaaay too frequently. Towards the end I would skim some of those areas because after 20-30 mentions it’s just kinda too much recycling of the thought.
What a great surprise! I bought this book because of the blurb (and I love scifi romances), truthfully expecting another cookie cutter and boring book. I LOVED this book! The characters were realistic, and the story just pulled me right in. The basics of the book is that there are 5 ships containing survivors from Earth's final days, looking for a new world to make into home. There have already been 2 generations born on these ships and because of tests some of the women are sterilized at birth (eugenics). We enter the story as one of the ships is being attacked by hideous alien's who are killing all the humans on board. The heroine is a botanist and she escapes in a shuttle. Being the highest ranking person in the shuttle, she suddenly is in charge of the others. Out of 30,000 on board only 30 humans are saved by another alien ship. The rest of the story is about hope, really. The new alien's offer to let humanity come to settle on their planet. Some of the aliens are "called" by some of the human women, meaning they sense that they are their soul mates. I won't spoil the story, but the way the story goes on is really rewarding reading. I cannot wait till there is a second book!
